Focus on Sanitation Workers’ Safety: Fourth Saturday of August to Be Observed as ‘Garima Diwas’ Every Year

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the national workshop titled "Mission Zero: Ending the casualties in cleaning work" on the occasion of 'Garima Divas 2026' at Lokseba Bhawan and announced that every year fourth Saturday of August will be celebrated as 'Garima Diwas'. "It is our responsibility to protect the dignity of those hands which give us cleanliness" - With this message, the Chief Minister has emphasized the use of modern machines, robotics and new technologies in hazardous cleaning tasks by prioritizing the safety and respect of the cleaners. In this program, insurance amount distribution, work order distribution for housing and exhibition of modern security equipment was inaugurated while experts and central office bearers from 8 states have called Odisha's 'Garima Yojana' and 'Zero Fatality' pledge as an example for the country.
