New Era of Prosperous and Secure Odisha: 51st Doppler Weather Radar Inaugurated in Sambalpur, 50 Projects Worth ₹960 Crore Launched
A new era dawns in the resolve to build a prosperous and secure Odisha. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the country's 51st—and state-of-the-art—'Make in India' Doppler Weather Radar (DWR) at a ceremony held at Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur, in the virtual presence of Union Minister of Earth Sciences Dr. Jitendra Singh. Additionally, 50 significant development projects worth ₹960 crore, aimed at the inclusive growth and infrastructural transformation of Sambalpur and the entire Western Odisha region, were inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid.
✅ Inauguration of 15 projects worth ₹133.47 crore and laying of foundation stones for 35 new projects worth ₹825.83 crore. ✅ Announcement of investments for health infrastructure, road and building construction, mega-lift irrigation projects, minor irrigation, sports infrastructure, and rural development in Kuchinda. ✅ The state's third Doppler radar, inaugurated at Sambalpur, will provide accurate data and advance forecasts of weather patterns across a wide range. ✅ By providing weather alerts and rainfall estimates to residents of districts like Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh—as well as neighboring states—this radar will strengthen the management of water inflow into the Hirakud Reservoir. ✅ By providing early warnings about lightning and hailstorms, this radar will prove to be a boon in safeguarding the lives and assets of our farming community.
