On National Sports Day, Chief Minister Calls for Making Odisha the Sports Capital of the World

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi attended the state-level function organized at the Convention Center in Lok Seva Bhavan on the occasion of National Sports Day as the chief guest and paid tribute to hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand and presented the 'Biju Patnaik Sports and Bravery Award-2025' to the accomplished sportspersons, coaches and brave individuals of the state. The Chief Minister called for making Odisha the sports capital of the world with the resolution of 'Kheliv Odisha, Jitib Odisha' and the motto of 'Padiyaru Trasiyam'.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister mentioned the various sports infrastructure and developmental initiatives of the government:

✅ Construction of state-of-the-art stadiums in 314 blocks of the state at a cost of ₹4,124 crore for the development of the grassroots level.

✅ Setting up of a world-class sports complex at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar and 5 regional hubs including 'Baji Rout Regional Sports Hub' in Dhenkanal.
✅ Organizing 'CM Trophy' to discover rural talent.
✅ Distribution of sports equipment to youth in 485 villages of 10 Maoist-affected districts with the aim of social change.
